LODHRAN: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan has said that his struggle against ‘mafia’ is a ‘Jihad’.
Addressing a public meeting in Lodhran as part of NA-154 electioneering on Friday despite being barred by Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) to do so, Khan said that 11 cases were filed against him over taking former premier Nawaz Sharif to court over the Panama Paper case.
He said that the case against PTI leader Jahangir Tareen were of political nature. “Jahangir Tareen was not involved in corruption nor was he involved in money laundering,” Khan said. “We accepted the verdict of the disqualification case against him,” he added.
The PTI Chief went on to say that Jahangir Tareen is the most tax-paying politicians. He added, “He owns a sugar mill which benefits the farmers”. “Jahangir Tareen is not like the Sharifs and Zardaris,” Khan said.
The Tehreek-e-Insaf Chairman also said that his party won’t complain over getting disqualified. He added that they respect the state institutions. “We did not come out on the streets like Nawaz Sharif did,” he said.
He added that mafias ‘buy’ judges, opposition, politicians. “He forms a group after destroying state institutions to hide his theft,” he said.
Khan also said that Supreme Court of Pakistan labeled Nawaz Sharif as the Godfather of Mafia.
Chief Minister of Punjab Shahbaz Sharif and Nawaz Sharif’s daughter Maryam Nawaz complain that their questions are not being answered.
The PTI Chairman added that Punjab Police gunned down 870 people during the tenure of CM Punjab Shahbaz Sharif.
Khan claimed that a police officer by the name of Abid Boxer had said that he used to kill people on the saying of CM Punjab.
Earlier, the ECP has directed all political parties to abide by the code of conduct. PTI leaders were barred by the commission to visit NA-154 constituency after schedule of the by-election was issued as according to the rules, parliamentarians cannot visit a constituency after issuance of polls schedule.
Imran Khan attended the rally and delivered an address to party supporters, urging them to vote for disqualified Tareen’s son contesting the by-elections Ali Khan Tareen.
PTI secretary general was disqualified in a corruption probe by the top court following ousting of Nawaz Sharif, former premier in a like references filed by PTI among opposition parties.
