Imran Khan Prosecutor submits reply to ECP

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf chairperson Imran Khan’s lawyer submitted on Monday reply over objections to his candidacy for the upcoming general election to the Election Commission of Pakistan

Assistant lawyer of Babar Awan said that the objections to Imran’s candidacy are baseless and based on fraud.

It stated in the documents that the objection raised against Imran Khan were consists of false information and the allegation were baseless.

It further mentions that there is a legal mechanism in place to send or receive documents from foreign countries.

Earlier in the day, PTI chief Imran Khan and his counsel, Babar Awan, excused from appearing before returning officers for the scrutiny of his nomination papers for NA-53.

Imran and his counsel skipped the NA-53 scrutiny to appear before the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) in Lahore.

The cricketer-turned-politician’s counsel had asked returning officers if they could appear for the PTI chairperson’s scrutiny for the Islamabad constituency on Tuesday instead as he had to appear before ECP in Lahore today as well.

  1. On the face of it it is apparent that over 90% of the Candidates of the upcoming election are neither Sadiq nor Amin. A large percentage pf the aspirants appear to have criminal cases pending in the various Forums yet are being permitted to contest for seats in the Assemblies. While innocent until proven guilty is the bench mark for justice it is abundantly clear that avoidance of accountability is rife and cases have a habit of being put on the back burner for years eventually being consigned to the Annals of history
