PESHAWAR: PTI’s Chairm-an Imran Khan has suggested that they will conduct direct election of Senate to avoid h-orse trading if came in power.
Talking to media at Peshawar on Tuesday Imran Khan said that horse trading is start among member of the provincial assemblies as the Senate election will be held on March 3.
He, however, expressed hope that the PTI members will remain loyal to the party and it would win six seats in the Senate.
“God willing, we hope to elect as many as six senators,” he added.
Imran Khan said that corruption was rife in the senate elections and stated that people were offering to buy votes for the senate elections. “Received an offer worth Rs 40 core in exchange for one senator,” he disclosed.
Imran said he feared a decision against former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, who is facing trial on corruption charges, is likely to come soon.
He claimed the former premier wanted to pitch the parliament against the judiciary to achieve his desired ends. Sharif got adequate opportunity to clear him of corruption charges, Imran added.
“Nawaz Sharif is using the parliament to hide his own corruption,” he said.
The PTI chief threatened to take to streets if democracy and the judiciary came under attack.
If voted into power, the PTI government would ensure direct election of the Senate to avoid horse-trading, he added.
Slamming arch-rival Nawaz Sharif, Imran Khan said the PML-N chief and his party attacked the Supreme Court and used his wealth to buy judges to get decisions in his favor. He said the former premier had to account for Rs300 billion.
Imran Khan said that in order to save the country’s judiciary and democracy, he would mobilize masses and take to the streets with them.
