Imran thankful to God for his case, slams NAB Hudaibiya case

Naimat Khan

KARACHI: Imran Khan, who was in Karachi on Friday, shared three different reactions in the Supreme Court of Pakistan’s judgments in Islamabad.

“I’m thankful to God for clearing me in this fake case filed by a drug dealer,” Imran told reporters after the court handed down its judgment in the case filed by Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz leader Hanif Abbasi. “How fitting that money launderer Nawaz Sharif came after me through a drug dealer,” Khan said, adding that he had presented a clear money trail and sixty documents in the case despite never having been a public office holder.

“I’m really happy of the decision in my favor, which has happened after a year of tough investigation,” Imran said, and added “I condemn that NAB has protected Nawaz Sharif in Hudaibiya paper mill case.

The PTI leader slammed a TV Channel and its owner and said that he will lodge a case against it for misreporting in favor of Nawaz Sharif and against him. “It was very painful for me when my comparison would be made with a person who has looted the money of poor masses,” Imran further said.

“Nawaz Sharif is the country’s big money launderer and they way Hudaibiya case has decided I condemn NAB for it. The NAB has tried to protect Nawaz Sharif by avoiding present the case in a proper way,” Imran said while refereeing to Supreme Court dismissal of NAB case against Nawaz Sharif.

“Former Chairman NAB Qamar Zaman Chaudhry was part of the Sharif Mafia. The Sharif family is unable to tell as from where has the money came. They are compelled to present fake Qatari letters,” he further said.

As he was happy on verdict regarding him and unhappy regarding Nawaz Sharif, Imran Khan’s response regarding judgment about Jehangir Tareen was moderate. “Jehangir Tareen has been disqualified on technical grounds, he has committed nothing wrong but we will appeal in the case,” he said.

Notwithstanding the verdict, he said, Tareen should also not be compared to the “corrupt mafia” of the Sharif family, who Khan again accused of taking Rs300 billion out of the country. Compared to the Sharifs, Tareen conducted all his legitimate business in the country, Khan said.

Khan said that he was satisfied with the verdict because people trust him with their money for his charitable work and they now know that he is completely clean. He added that he was happy because he had been cleared by the SC before the 2018 General Elections.
