TIMERGARA: The Awami National Party central spokesman and former senator Zahid Khan on Wednesday condemned the visit of Pakistan Tehrek Insaf chief Imran Khan to the University of Malakand and termed it a political interference in educational institutions.

Talking to The Frontier Post on phone he said the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa colleges’ teachers had staged a protest rally in front of the Khan’s residence at Bani Gala for acceptance of their demand on the day on which Khan visited the varsity and addressed the students.

The ANP spokesman said that PTI chief should not use educational institutions for his political goal. He said though Mr Khan had no official designation in the government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa yet he had been utilizing government resources for his political party. The ANP spokesman questioned his visit to the varsity, saying on what capacity he paid visit and addressed the students. He said the PTI chief should explain it to the people of the province where his party had been in power. “Classes at the varsity suffered while hundreds of security officials were deployed for Khan’s security on government expenses,” Zahid Khan said and demanded of the HEC authorities to ban entry of politicians and their addresses at all state universities.
