In-camera meeting of NA Body on Interior postponed

ISLAMABAD: The in-camera meeting of the National Assembly Standing Committee on Interior on the security situation of the country was postponed due to the non-participation of the heads of the institutions.

The NA Body expressing its concerns said that the youth are being martyred but the heads of the institutions were not attending the committee meeting called to solve the issue. It said that the in-camera meeting will not be held until heads of the security agencies dead not participate in the meeting. The IG Islamabad and Balochistan participated in the committee meeting but heads of all other institutions did not participate.

The in-camera meeting of the National Assembly’s Standing Committee on Interior was held in Parliament House on Wednesday under the chairmanship of Chairman Ahmed Hussain Dahar. Sources told INP that the meeting was attended by DG Rangers Sindh and Punjab, IGFC Balochistan, IGFC KPK, DG Gilgit-Baltistan Scout, DG Coast Guard, IG Islamabad Police, IG Police. Punjab, IG Police KPK, IG Police Sindh, IG Police Balochistan, IG Police Azad Kashmir, IG Police GB, and AIGCTD of all four provinces were summoned by the committee.

Sources said that our purpose of calling all the security agencies was to clarify the system for communication between them, for that it was necessary that the heads of all the agencies should be present in the committee, but unfortunately only IG Balochistan participated in the committee and no other IG was in the committee. The committee said that terrorism is increasing again in the country, CTD officials are getting martyred, the CTD center in KPK was bombed, but the IG Police and other law enforcement agencies are not coming in the committee meeting.

Sources said that the chairman of the committee and the members have expressed their anger over the absence of the heads of the security institutions in the committee and they said that until the heads of the institutions come to the committee, there will be no meeting of the committee on national security, after which the chairman of the committee Ahmed Hussain. Refusing to take the briefing, Dahar adjourned the in-camera meeting and directed that the in-camera meeting will not take place until the heads of all security agencies come to the committee. (INP)
