In Eid speeches, officials reject UN report, call for Afghans to return

KABUL (TOLO News): The Eid prayer was held in the presence of various officials of the Islamic Emirate at the Arg.

Noor Mohammad Saqib, the acting Minister of Hajj and Religious Affairs, in his speech before the Eid prayer rejected the United Nations report regarding the suppression of political opponents of the Islamic Emirate in the country.

According to this official of the Islamic Emirate, the general amnesty decree is being implemented in the country, therefore, the Islamic Emirate has no issue with its political opponents.

“The United Nations report claiming that in Afghanistan, the Islamic Emirate, also known as the Taliban, eliminates their political opponents, is propaganda,” said Noor Mohammad Saqib.

Noor Mohammad Saqib also mentioned the shortcomings of the previous government in administrative corruption, border management, the fragmentation of Afghanistan, and other issues in another part of his speech.

The deputy prime minister for Economic Affairs, Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar, also emphasized the importance of unity among Muslims around the world in his remarks.

“I wish all Muslims a blessed Eid al-Fitr. May God grant all Muslims unity and strength to maintain this unity forever,” Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar added.

Meanwhile, Abdul Wasi Akhund, the Head of the General Office of the Prime Minister, asked Afghan citizens abroad to return to the country in a statement.

“We tell all citizens that our homeland is peaceful and the current situation is stable with overall stability, security, and national unity in the country, and we should support this situation,” he said.

“We envision a bright future in Afghanistan and a civilized and progressive Afghanistan that can compete in this region,” said the deputy prime minister for administrative affairs, Abdul Salam Hanafi.

Mullah Mohammad Hassan Akhund, the prime minister of the Islamic Emirate, also asked the country’s citizens abroad to return to the country in his Eid message.

He also urged the country’s investors and traders to cooperate with needy families and other disadvantaged people in the difficult economic conditions.
