KABUL: Ahmad Javid Rasouli, head of the National Statistics and Information office says, that the inclusion of the mother’s name in the electronic ID is “optional”, and will be added according to the applicant’s consent.
Rasouli said, during a press conference today, that the inclusion of the mother’s name in electronic IDs is not mandatory, and if the applicant does not consent to the inclusion of the mother’s name, his/her ID card will be published without the mother’s name.
According to him, all electronic IDs that are printed and distributed with or without the mother’s name have the same validity.
President Ghani recently signed a decree, amending some articles of the Population Registration Law to include the mother’s name in the electronic IDs. The inclusion of Mother’s name was previously approved by the Cabinet.
The National Bureau of Statistics and Information said, that in accordance with this decree; From now on, the mother’s name will be included in the electronic ID cards at the request of the applicant. (Khaama Press)
