Indonesian envoy renews support to peace process

KABUL: Foreign Minister Salahuddin Rabbani has held a meeting with visiting Special Indonesian Envoy for Afghanistan Hamid Awaludin and discussed matters related to Afghan reconciliation process, according to a statement on Tuesday.

During the meeting, Indonesian envoy reaffirmed his country’s commitment for peace and stability in Afghanistan and expressed his country’s readiness to host peace talks.

Rabbani appreciated the cooperation and goodwill of the friendly country of Indonesia with respect to Afghanistan. Both sides also discussed the expansion of bilateral relations, upcoming Presidential Elections and regional cooperation.

Indonesian had been involved in Afghan reconciliation process since it had hosted Ulema conference last year and encouraged the Taliban to join reconciliation process in the war-torn country.

Last year in January, Indonesian President Joko Widodo Kabul and held detail discussion with Afghan government officials for strengthening bilateral relationship and offered support in peace process. (Pajhwok)
