Innovation is the primary drive of development: Baligh

ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for Education and Professional Training, Engr. Muhammad Baligh Ur Rehman has said that innovation is the primary drive of development and it is through innovations and new ideas that we can move towards betterment.

The Federal Minister was addressing as Chief Guest signing ceremony of Institutional Agreement between Intellectual Property Organization (IPO), Higher Education Commission (HEC) and universities/Institutes for establishment of Technology and Innovation Support Centers (TISC) Network in Pakistan here at Higher Education Commission Auditorium on Tuesday. He emphasized the need of encouraging the innovators and recognition of their work. The Federal Minister said that the human resource of Pakistan has great potential, adding that we have to train our youth in right direction.

He said it is through innovations that we can overcome many of the challenges to the human life and existence. The Federal Minister said that the government is committed for the promotion of education in the country and has increased funding for education sector.

He noted that innovation is pushing ahead at such a fast pace that it is essential to be part of this innovation drive if we want to tread path of development and achieve a respectable position among the comity of nations. The Federal Minister appreciated the initiative of IPO Pakistan and Higher Education Commission to set up Technology and Innovation Support Centers (TISCs) in the institutes to promote use of patent information among students, researchers, entrepreneurs and policy makers.
