Inquiry against DC Shangla, filing reference against Director PDA, 7 PSO officers: NAB

PESHAWAR :The Regional Board Meeting (RBM) of National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Khyber Pakhtunkhwa was held under the chairmanship of Brig (R) Farooq Naser Awan, Director General NAB (KP) here at Peshawar.

The meeting was attended by Directors, Additional Directors, Case Officers, Senior Legal Consultants and other concerned officers said a press release issued on Sunday.

The decision has taken in the meeting that Board authorized several inquiries and approved filling of references in Accountability Court.

The Board recommended conversion of inquiry into investigation against Deputy Commissioner Shangla and other regarding corruption and corrupt practices embezzlement of funds to the tune of Rs.123.8 Million.

The subjects are alleged to have been involved in embezzlement of funds for the rehabilitation of infrastructure damaged by flood in year 2016.

During the course of inquiry, it was discovered that the Deputy Commissioner Shangla misused his authority and criminally illegally enabled the execution agencies to select contractor without advertisement and disbursed funds without any codal formalities.

The flow of funds also suggests that TMOls and Tehsil Nazim were at the same time executors, monitors, contractors and disbursers of the funds allocated for the rehabilitation of infrastructure, causing huge loss to national exchequer.  CCC

Beside this, the Board also approved filling of two references as the first reference was approved against Amin-ud-Din, Director Peshawar Development Authority (PDA) regarding accumulation of Assets beyond known sources of income worth Rs. 64.690 Million.

The details of the assets are market shops and godown in Peshawar, five marlas Plot, Ajab Khan Town Peshawar, one Kanal plot in Hayatabad Peshawar, luxury Bungalow one Kanal Hayatabad Peshawar, two 5 Marla houses in Hayatabad Peshawar, one Kanal Plot Regi Model Town Peshawar, five marlas House Ring Road Peshawar, Commercial unit Markaz Islamabad, one House at G.T. Road, unjustified investment in M/s Muhammad Tariq Trading Company and Fabrics Business at Dubai (U.A.E), Investment in Paradise Silk Centre, Sumbal Arcade Peshawar Saddar and Investment in M/s. I.P. Traders  at Nowshera.

Second reference was approved against Officers of Pakistan State Oil Company Limited (PSO), Customs Department and others regarding misappropriation and misuse of authority committed in the consignments of petroleum tankers for export to Afghanistan via Torkham Border.

Fake exports of 55 consignments of POL products as sold out in the local market causing loss of Rs. 23.040 million to the national exchequer.

At the end, Director General NAB (KP) Brig (R) Farooq Naser Awan appeal the general public to joint hand with NAB (KP) for eradication of corruption from the Province of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
