Inspector arrested for alleged fraud, corruption

HAFIZABAD: An Excise Inspector of Hafizabad was arrested by the Anti-Corruption Establishment on the charge of fraud and corruption.

According to ACE source, Dr. Ghulam Abbas of Mohallah Sharifpura submitted an application to the Regional Director ACE Gujranwala that the accused Excise Inspector Muazzam Ahmad raided his medical store in Mohallah Sharifpura and harassed his brother and nephew and also arrested them. However, the accused demanded Rs. 80,000/- for the release of his brother and nephew, which he paid to him. The complainant further said that the accused blackmailed the store owners to extort bribe. The Regional Director ordered an enquiry to ascertain the real facts and later found in the enquiry that the allegations against the accused were true. The Regional Director ordered his arrest and registration of a case against the accused accordingly.
