KABUL: All security and defence centres as well as other government institutions are being equipped with Internet and information technology, an official said on Sunday.
Sair Zaland, spokesman for the Ministry of Telecommunications and Information Technology (MoTIT), told Pajhwok Afghan News an agreement had been signed on provision of the facilities. Development of telecommunication services, electronic governance promotion and information technology infrastructure was the duty of the ministry, the spokesman said.
Minister Shahzada Aryubi singed two agreements with the director of Afghan Telecom on linking security, defence and other institutions through the Internet, IT and fibre optics. Zaland said implementation of the agreements was responsibility of the Afghan Telecom firm that would cooperate with the government on fibre optic and rate reduction. The project was being funded by NATO’s Resolute Support (RS) mission and executed by the MoTIT, he concluded.
