Interference in tribal affairs, blackmailing officials condemned

Rafiullah Mandokhail

ZHOB: Member district council and tribal leader Malik Haji Hussain Khan Mandokhail has said that the far-flung and remote union council Gustoi is a sensitive area and has geographical and historical importance as the area shares borders with Wazay Khwa in neighboring Afghanistan.

The area people have always extended their cooperation to the law enforcement agencies, provincial government and district administration. Addressing a press conference he alleged that some elements area trying to blackmail the government departments for their personnel interest.

“I am the only tribal elder, elected representative and the responsible person of the area. Some people blackmailing the government officials for their vested interest and trying to gain cheap publicity.”

Using blackmailing tactics and interference of the irrelevant people in the internal affairs of Gustoi will not be tolerated at any cost. Government officials including deputy commissioner should contact him instead of contacting others in case of any problem related to Gustoi union council. The clan elder warned.

The less-privileged Gustoi is one out of two dozen backward union councils of the Zhob district. People of the district have always kept deprived of facilities as majority of the population still living below the poverty line. Although Balochistan is the major gas-producing province of the country but the second largest city Zhob is still deprived of the facility despite passage of decades.

Tall claims have always been made about providing basic facilities to but practical steps have not been taken so for. In many villages women have to bring water from far off springs owing to absence of a water supply schemes. But the authorities concerned using delaying tactics to put the issues under the carpet. People of Zhob have urged the federal and provincial governments to ensure provision of gas, drinking water, health and education facilities in a short span of time.
