Interim authorities to provide facilities for businessmen, investors

KABUL (Khaama Press): Taliban’s acting Prime Minister Mawlavi Abdul Kabir met with the head of the Afghanistan Chamber of Commerce and Investment, Mohammad Yunus Mohmand and stressed providing facilities for businessmen and investors in the country.
During the visit, local investors and entrepreneurs said they are interested to take part in the economic development of the country by investing and providing job opportunities for the citizens, the statement said.
Meanwhile, investors and entrepreneurs shared some of their challenges and suggestions and asked the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan to provide facilities so that they could invest in different sectors and industries, which will benefit both the general public and the government.
PM Kabir emphasized that the ruling regime has already taken concrete steps toward the economic development of the country. He added that work on a number of major projects is underway and job opportunities have been created for thousands of people across the country.
These remarks come as Afghanistan is currently going through dire economic challenges and a humanitarian crisis, among other critical issues, which has already complicated the living conditions for ordinary people. Since the return of the Taliban to power in August 2021, a large majority of national investors and entrepreneurs fled the country fearing persecution and death threats from the Taliban.
Due to the late regime change, both private and public business sectors faced unexpected changes, resulting in the closure of certain small and medium-sized businesses. Thousands of people lost their jobs and are now struggling for survival.
Dire poverty and hunger have hit the war-torn country the worst in decades, largely depending on donations and aid from the international community.
