Interior minister pays tribute to police martyrs

F.P. Report

ISLAMABAD: Paying tribute to policemen, Minister for Interior Ijaz Ahmad Shah here on Monday said that a Jawan (policeman) received bullet on his chest just because of his sheer passion, love and determination for his motherland.

Talking to journalists during his visit to police lines headquarters in Islamabad, Ijaz Ahmad Shah said that it was the command who took stand and initiative for any force.

He said that the police department and its leadership had to play role for the welfare of its martyrs’ families other than the government.

The interior minister said if the martyrs’ families and police officials had no packages available for their well being then the head of the department was responsible.

He said, “Police is the most vulnerable department whose demerits are criticized by everyone but their achievements in the good of the public go unsung.”

Responding to a question, the interior minister said that the current government was firm to make justice for its masses and it would be done at any cost.

Last year in November Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Gen Qamar Javed Bajwa had paid tribute to the policemen who laid down their lives to foil a terror attack on the Chinese consulate in Karachi.

The Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR) in a tweet said: “COAS hails great sacrifice of policemen [who] embraced shahadat at Karachi today while fighting against terrorists.”

The military’s media wing quoted the army chief as saying: “Pakistan Rangers Sindh, Police and other LEAs responded with professional excellence. We stay determined to root out terrorism and militancy from our motherland.”
