Investment in education is very important: Minister

Islamabad: Federal Minister for Education and Professional Training, Engr. Muhammad Baligh Ur Rehman has said that investment in education is very important to ensure the progress and bright future of the country.

The Federal Minister was addressing as chief guest the 14th Degree Awarding Ceremony of Hamdard University here on Wednesday. He congratulated to graduates and their parents on successful completion of their academic programs.

He said that we have no option but to invest on education if we really want to see our demographic dividend truly payback by 2030 onwards and Pakistan to make perceptible and sustainable progress.

In this regard government has set some important directions in all facets of our planning, development and reform needs. For this Pakistan Vision 2025 has been developed. The plan envisages five key enablers and seven pillars of national development. Human development is one of the most important pillars in the plan. It calls for a persistent rise of the share of PSDP fund for education along with health as significant portion of GDP by 2025, he said.

The Federal Minister said that the present government is focusing on promotion of quality education in the country. He said that the funding for education sector has been increased. He said that enrollment in schools has increased and number of out of school children in the country dropped phenomenally. Baligh ur Rehman also emphasized upon inculcating in students habit of reading to make them lifelong learners. We need to focus on character building of our students so that they could be able to differentiate between right and wrong. The Federal Minister also lauded the unparalleled contribution of Shaheed Hakim Mohammad Said and his family by establishing Hamdard Dawakhana, Hamdard Foundation, Hamdard University.

He said that Hakim Mohammad Said served humanity with great enthusiasm and devotion. Shaheed Hakim Mohammad Said is one of those personalities who had truly and selflessly advanced and followed the guidelines of the founder of Pakistan and sincerely worked on ideals of our forefathers, he said.

Baligh Ur Rehman urged the students to enhance their communication skills and keep their attitude positive to achieve success in life. He advised the students to work in mode of excellence and try to do in best possible way.
