Inzamam set to tour England during 2019 World Cup

KARACHI (Monitoring Desk): The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has agreed to Chief Selector Inzamamul Haq’s demand of touring England, during the upcoming 2019 International Cricket Council (ICC) World Cup.

According to private channel, Inzamam will leave for England, immediately after Eidul Fitr, and stay there for a couple of weeks. He is likely to witness Pakistan’s crucial World Cup matches, against Australia and India on June 12 and 16 respectively, alongside PCB Chairman Ehsan Mani and Managing Director Wasim Khan.

During his stay, Inzamam will monitor Pakistan team’s performance and offer valuable guidance to cricketers, if and when required. It must be noted that selection of Pakistan’s World Cup squad was Inzamam’s last assignment, as per his contract with PCB, and extension in his tenure will depend on Men in Green’s performance during the mega event.

Earlier it was reported that PCB is keen on restricting foreign trips of its officials, ahead of the World Cup, in a bid to avoid unnecessary expenditure. The board had also adopted a similar policy, during the HBL Pakistan Super League season four, earlier this year.

The tournament will kick start on May 30 with the match between England and South Africa, at The Oval in London. Pakistan will start their World Cup campaign against West Indies, on May 31, at Trent Bridge in Nottingham. The final of the event will be played on July 14, at the historic Lord’s Cricket Ground.
