NAROWAL: Pakistan Muslim League – Nawaz (PML-N) leader Ahsan Iqbal on Sunday lamented that the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) government is not serious about the health of former prime minister Nawaz Sharif who is serving seven-year imprisonment in Kot Lakhpat Jail.

“Prime Minister Imran Khan and Punjab Chief Minister Usman Buzdar will be responsible if anything happens to Nawaz Sharif,” he said in a statement.

The PML-N leader said such attitude was also adopted toward Begum Kulsoom Nawaz’s ailment, adding the party had adopted a legal procedure for provision of healthcare facilities to the three-time prime minister.

He advised party workers to wait and hopped that they would get relief. He warned that the party would be compelled to protest if the government didn’t review its decision.

Maryam Nawaz, daughter of the PML-N supreme leader, met his father along with his personal physician Dr Adnan Khan at Kot Lakhpat Jail on Saturday to inquire about the PML-N supremo’s health.

Nawaz Sharif, incarcerated at the prison since December, 2018 after his conviction in Al-Azizia corruption case, has been suffering from various health problems.

Maryam and Dr Adnan visited the prison after receiving permission from the interior ministry. A large number of PML-N workers also thronged the Kot Lakhpat prison and chanted party slogans when she reached the prison.

The party activists also halted a passenger train by blocking a nearby track, mounting the engine and shouting slogans in favour of their leader.
