Iranian President opposes presence of West in Western Asia

TEHRAN (TASS): Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi on Thursday spoke out against any form of foreign presence in the West Asia region, especially Western powers. He made the corresponding statement at a joint press conference with the Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, who arrived in Tehran on a visit.
“Such a [foreign] presence does not bring security to the region, but, on the contrary, undermines it,” Press TV quoted the president as saying.
“Leaders, officials and governments of the countries of the region should know that any intervention by foreign states and representatives of the West is detrimental to regional security “During the talks, we discussed the main issues of the region, especially the issue of Yemen. We emphasize that the blockade of Yemen [by the Saudi-led military coalition] must end and the Yemenis must be given the opportunity to decide the fate of their country on their own.”
According to Raisi, he also discussed the situation in Afghanistan with the Emir of Qatar, noting “the need for an inclusive government there, representing all ethnic groups and political movements, in order to ensure sustainable security in this country.”
According to the President of Iran, the visit of the Emir of Qatar will be a turning point in relations between the two countries and will play an important role in the development of regional and international cooperation.
For his part, the Emir of Qatar stressed that “the current problems of the region must be resolved through a constructive dialogue.”
The parties also expressed their readiness to make impressive mutual investments.
The Emir of Qatar has announced the simplification of the visa process for Iranian spectators interested in attending the Qatar 2022 World Cup.
