LAHORE: Railways Minister Shaikh Rasheed on Saturday said that Iran’s President Rouhani assured him cooperation in the field of railways during his recent visit of the country.
“I have briefed Prime Minister Imran Khan about meetings during the visit of Iran,” Rasheed told media here today.
The prime minister will hold talks with Iran’s president in coming few days, the railways minister said.
The minister said that Pakistan will cooperate with Iran and Turkey in the field of railway.
Commenting on PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto’s expected visit to jail to meet PML-N supremo Nawaz Sharif, Rasheed said the meeting will expose their same nature to the people.
Railways minister told the media that Prime Minister Imran Khan will inaugurate Jinnah Express at Lahore station on March 30. Chief Minister Usman Buzdar will also be present during the inaugural ceremony.
Pakistan’s railways minister during his Iran visit held a meeting with his Iranian counterpart, Minister of Roads and Urban Development Muhammad Eslami.
During his meeting with Iranian minister several issues relating to bilateral cooperation in the field of railways were discussed.
The upgrading of the Taftan-Quetta rail track as well as connection between Taftan and Mirjaveh were discussed. The Iranian side showed interest in collaborating with Pakistan in the field.
Rashid was also given a detailed briefing on the Iranian rail network and technology by the Iranian Railway department.
