F.P. Report

ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad High Court showed displeasure over the continues sit-in in Islamabad and served contempt notice to Interior Minister Ahsan Iqbal for failing to taking action against Faizabad sit-in despite the orders of IHC and SC.

As the hearing began, Justice Shaukat Siddiqui expressed annoyance at the government’s inaction and adding that showing negligence in court orders is totally disrespecting the court.

He asked from the chief commissioner, what is the reason behind the interior minister failing to take action against the sit-in despite court order and also stopping the city administration to take action against the protestors and end the people problems in this regard.

The protest of religious parties has entered its 19th day despite orders from both Supreme Court and IHC against the sit-in in Islamabad.

In the last hearing, the interior minister, taking sole responsibility for the failure to end the sit-in, said he wants to resolve the matter peacefully and asked the court for more time.

The court also issued show-cause notices for contempt of court to the interior secretary, chief commissioner and Islamabad inspector general.
