Israeli Embassy staffer in China attacked

BEIJING (AA) : A staffer at the Israeli Embassy in China was assaulted on Friday, Tel Aviv has said.

“An employee at the Israeli Embassy in Beijing was attacked on Friday, with the background of the attack unclear as of yet,” the Jerusalem Post reported, citing a statement from the Israeli Foreign Ministry.

The employee was hospitalized where his condition is said to be “stable.”

“The attack did not take place in the area near the embassy,” the report added.

Anadolu called the Israeli embassy in Beijing for further details, but the diplomatic mission had closed on Friday by the time reporter reached out for comments.

The incident occurred amid a raging armed conflict between Israel and Palestinian groups that has resulted in the killing of over 2,800 people since last Saturday.
