JERUSALEM (Agencies): Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has fired Yoav Gallant over a breakdown in trust during the Gaza war against Hamas, and appointed Israel Katz as the country’s new defense minister, Netanyahu’s office said on Tuesday.
Netanyahu said there had been too many gaps between him and Gallant over the management of Israel’s ongoing wars.
“The security of the State of Israel was and will always remain the mission of my life,” Gallant wrote on X, minutes after Netanyahu announced his dismissal.
Gideon Saar will replace Katz as foreign minister.
