Jabal Siraj Palace being used as military base

PARWAN (TOLOnews): Local officials in Parwan confirmed that the Jabal Siraj Palace is currently being used as a military base by Islamic Emirate forces.
The use of the palace created concern among cultural analysts, who said that some parts of the palace have been damaged. They suggested that the palace should be handed over to the Ministry of Information and Culture.
“If the troops and military units are settled in, it will be difficult to protect it and it may be damaged and it will be difficult to repair,” said Abir Shabroz, a poet and writer.
“The historic relics, obviously, are the language of history,” said Mohammad Sabir Sarwari, university instructor.
The provincial commander of the security department said that they are considering locations for the forces of the Ministry of Defense, who are currently settled in the palace, and that they will leave the palace.
“Facilities are being made for the forces of the Ministry of Defense. We have decided to relocate them somewhere else,” said Azizullah Omar, commander of the provincial security department.
The Jabal Siraj Palace was rebuilt during the time of the former government. The construction cost more than 12 million Afs.
The provincial head of Information and Culture said that the palace has yet to be officially handed over to the Ministry of Information and Culture.
“They told us to send a statement or proposal to the Arg to hand over the Jabal Siraj Palace to the Ministry of Information and Culture,” said Shams Rahman Sediqqi, head of the department of Information and Culture.
According to the local officials, the Jabal Siraj Palace is built on 36 acres of land and has 150 rooms.
