Javed Hashmi rejoins PML-N

F.P. Report

LAHORE: Veteran politician Javed Hashmi on Monday once again joined his former party Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N).

Hashmi meet the decision after meeting PML-N Chairman Nawaz Sharif at Punjab House in Lahore. Party leaders namely Saad Rafique, Ahsan Iqbal, Maryam Nawaz, Pervez Rasheed and Marriyum Aurangzeb were present in the meeting as well.

Federal Railways Minister Khawaja Saad Rafique, speaking on the occasion, said that Hashmi fully supported the supremacy of the constitution. He said, “The meeting was not held to embarrass anybody. Both leaders have agreed on carrying the struggle for constitution’s supremacy forward”.

Meanwhile, Opposition Leader in the National Assembly Syed Khursheed Ahmed Shah – speaking on Hashmi’s return to PML-N – said that he advised him not to leave the party as he is the most senior leader in PML-N after Nawaz Sharif and Shahbaz Sharif.

“A man was behind Hashmi’s departure from PML-N. That man himself has been sidelined by the party. It will take time for Hashmi to regain his status in PML-N,” Khan said.

Sources said that the official announcement regarding Hashmi’s return to PML-N will be made after consultation with Sharif’s wife Kulsoom Nawaz.

Nawaz Sharif is all set to fly for London on Tuesday (tomorrow) and will also hold a public meeting in Multan this month.

It is pertinent to mention that the veteran politician had left PML-N due to differences and joined Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI).

However, he later distanced himself from Tehreek-e-Insaf during the party’s prolonged sit-in at Islamabad in 2014.
