Only JI can break the chains of slavery, says Siraj

TIMERGARA: Jamaat-i-Islami chief and senator Siraj ul Haq on Tuesday said the country was being ruled by corrupt and cruel leaders who have enchained the masses.

Addressing a condolence reference arranged in the honour of late Maulana Fateh Muhammad alias Shalkandi Maulvi at Munda here the JI chief said it was only his party that could break the chains of slavery and free masses from the cruel rulers. The reference was also addressed by the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa minister for finance Muzafar Syed, PA Izaz ul Mulk Afkari, JI Lower Dir emir Maulana Asadullah and others. The speakers paid rich tributes to late Maulana Fateh Muhammad for his contribution in freeing the then ‘Dir State’ from the clutches of Nawab of Dir.

They said the late Shalkandi Maulvi had played a vital role in ousting Nawab Shah Jehan from Dir. They said the late Maulana launched a massive campaign against the Nawab in 1969 and succeeded in his dismissal. The JI chief said majority of population in Pakistan liked Islamic sharia law but the existing leaders were the main hindrance in its way. He said the JI wanted to make Pakistan a true Islami welfare and developed country and for that purpose it had chosen the democratic way.

Later on, addressing the students of government higher secondary school Samar Bagh, where he got education in childhood the JI chief asked the students to focus on their studies and moral character.

He said the JI lawmakers in various periods persuaded the successive governments to set up schools and colleges in the backward areas of Dir. He said that Lower Dir had now hundreds of schools and several colleges where poor students were quenched their thirst for knowledge. The JI chief also appreciated the role of district education officer Hafiz Muhammad Ibrahim and other teachers for advancing the area in education. He said if the voter elected ‘Sadiq’ and ‘Ameen’ persons, Pakistan could progress in five years. He asked teachers to build characters of the students as it was character that rule the hearts.

House gutted: Fire erupted in the house of a widow in Boto village of Kambat Samar Bagh here on Tuesday, residents said. They said neither the fire brigade vehicle no any official visited the site. The fire flames totally damaged the house. The fire broke out due to electric short circuit that engulfed the whole the two room building and badly damaged it. The fire turned all households into ashes within no time. The residents demanded of the government to compensate the widow due to her extreme poverty.

Open Kutcheri: The Samar Bagh administration on Tuesday arranged an open ‘kutcheri’ during which the residents complained about prolonged power outage, shortage of clean drinking water, dysfunctional tube wells, leaked pipelines, blocked national computerized identity cards, over billing, favouritism in recruitment and distribution of NGOs funds. The Lower Dir deputy commissioner Atta ur Rehman, district nazim Muhammad Rasool Khan, local MPA Izaz ul Mulk Afkari and district education officer Hafiz Muhammad Ibrahim assured the masses to solve the problems related to them.
