JI demands merger of FATA into KP

Muhammad Abuzar Khan

PESHAWAR: Amir Jamaat-i-Islaami (JI) FATA Chapter, Sardar Khan demanded the federal government to merge Fata into Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

This he said while addressing a press conference here at Peshawar Press Club on Monday. Sardar Khan added that it is very unfortunate that 10 million people of FATA were deprived of education and basic health facilities.

He revealed that despite destruction of several schools in the area because of militancy no primary school was built since 2008 which shows the government priority towards improvement of facilities in FATA.

Most of the population of tribal belt is living below the poverty line and there is no facility of electricity, gas and other basic needs, he added.

Sardar Khan lamented after 70 years of independence the people of FATA were still living under the colonial law FCR which was agains the basic rights of the people. He demanded to abolish the FCR and give equal rights to tribesmen as per the other part of the country.

Majority of people from tribal agencies showed their willingness to merge the FATA into KP province before the committee and now the government delaying the implementation of these reforms which is injustice towards the 10 million people, he said. He demanded from the government to immediately announce the merger of FATA in to KP and abolish the FCR.
