Jirga demands lifting of ban on crushing plants

TIMERGARA: The Adenzai Qaumi Jirga and owners of Crushing plants on Saturday demanded of the government and district administration to issue non-objection certificate (NOC) to all crushing plants working in the area. The demand was made during a joint meeting of the jirga and owners of crushing plants at Chakdara with Khurshid Ali Khan in the chair.

The participants condemned the Lower Dir administration for banning and closing crushing plants in Adenzai tehsil. They said the move was aimed to defame provincial and local governments. The jirga president Khurshid Ali Khan, ANP district president Hussain Shah Yousafzai, Adenzai tehsil naib nazim Mudat Khan, JUI-F leader Zar Naseeb Khan, district councilor Rehman Yousaf and others spoke on the occasion.

They demanded of the government to issue NOC to crushing plants in the area. They said the crushing plants would abide by relevant laws but would not pay any tax to the government as Malakand division was a tax-free region.

They also demanded lifting of ban on crushing plants. The participants said the closing of crushing plants had turned dozens of workers jobless while construction work had also suffered due to this closure.

Houses gutted: Two houses were badly damaged when fire broke out in one of the houses at Khall Colony in the limits of Khall police station here on Saturday, residents and police said. They said the fire erupted due to leakage from a gas cylinder in the house of Malik Mubarak Jan. The fire flames engulfed the whole house and the adjacent house of Malik Sulman. The fire fighters and volunteers of the Al-Khidmat Foundation put out the fire after hectic efforts. The fire badly damaged the houses and its valuables.
