JUI-F chief urges parties to create political space for each other

F.P. Report

ISLAMABAD: After championing the notion of providing level playing field in politics, JUI chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman has once again called upon all political parties to create space for each other.

In a statement issued on Tuesday, the JUI chief said that the time has come for politicians and political parties to show maturity in order to strengthen political atmosphere and democratic traditions.

Maulana Fazl said that the political parties should create political space for each other despite having differences of opinion.

He was of the view that chaos and distractions would neither strengthen democracy nor solve national problems.

The JUI chief opined that giving space to others would not benefit only one party but all the political parties.

He said a politician could have a different stance or point of view, but he should not be a victim of political anarchy.

The Maulana maintained that the strength of democracy does not lie in obstinacy or obduracy, rather it lies in the strength of democratic attitudes. At this time, both Pakistan and Ummah are facing difficulties, he observed.

He maintained that an individual or a single party could not offer solution to country’s problems. He held that economic development and stability are connected with the political and internal stability.

“Unfortunately, because of the politicians themselves, democracy has suffered in the past and present. Now we must be careful,” he cautioned the politicians.

He said that everyone is aware of the past but now we have to move forward with the formula of creating political space for everyone in order to strengthen democracy.

Maulana Fazl articulated that he has old relations with Asif Ali Zardari and the Bhutto family despite political differences.
