WANA: A deadly bomb explosion rocked the border town of Azam Warsak, South Waziristan, on Friday, injuring Maulana Abdullah Nadeem, the Amir of JUI-F Lower Waziristan, along with four others.
The attack, which took place inside a mosque during Friday prayers, has sent shockwaves through the already tense region. Following the explosion, the injured were immediately shifted to the headquarters hospital in Wana, where Maulana Nadeem was later transferred to Dera Ismail Khan for further medical treatment due to the severity of his injuries.
Among the injured were Rehmanullah, Maulana Noor Muhammad, and Shah Behran. According to DPO Bahadur Khan, a remote-controlled bomb was planted inside the pulpit, which detonated the moment Maulana Noor Abdullah began delivering his Friday sermon. Law enforcement agencies have launched an investigation, with authorities working to gather evidence and trace the perpetrators behind this calculated attack.
The news of Maulana Abdullah Nadeem’s attack spread rapidly across the region, drawing crowds of distressed locals to the Wana headquarters hospital, reflecting the heightened tensions and growing fears among residents. This incident is not an isolated one—Lower Waziristan has been witnessing a disturbing trend of targeted attacks on religious leaders, scholars, and influential figures, many of whom have lost their lives in similar violent assaults.
