Juvenile detention centersproviding youth with schooling

KABUL (TOLOnews): Officials of the Juvenile Detention Center on the first day of the annual examination, said that they are trying to augment prisons with centers of education and art.
Officials say they have provided education for children and teenagers who have committed various crimes. “Here, we give an exam and give them documents so that they can register in the same class in their previous school, and if they are in 12th grade, they will be given graduation documents so that they can start university,” said Nazar Mohammad Naseeri, head of the center.
Abdulrahman and Naweed are two young people who are in the Juvenile Rehabilitation Center and are happy with the educational facilities in this center.
“We studied and were taught, and I have regret, I will not repeat it anymore, I continue my work, I continue my studies,” said Naweed. “It had been a while since my father died and I had borrowed money from everyone. I myself had come from Iran and had no money,” said Abdul Rahman.
Currently, more than 280 children who are kept in this center have been provided with education by the center.
Some children and teenagers who are studying in this center said that they should be given a share in the development of the society after being released from this center.
“It’s been 54 days since I have been here in the 12th grade. Our teachers are qualified and teach well,” said Farhad, a youth in detention. “We have prepared all the prisons of Afghanistan with a place for education and art. Under the leadership of the organization of prison affairs, we have prepared education and professional lessons for them in the center of Kabul province. The officials of the center emphasized that youth and children who have been arrested for crimes such as theft, murder and other crimes are kept in the center.
