KARACHI: K-Electric, the sole power distribution company in Karachi, on Wednesday announced that it was raising its tariff for residential, commercial, and industrial consumers in the metropolis.
According to the new tariff announced by the company, residential users consuming more than 700 units of electricity per month would be charged an additional Rs3.37 per unit.
These consumers were previously being charged Rs17.33 variable charges per kilowatt-hour (kWh), but would now be charged at Rs20.70 per unit.
Tariff for residential consumers using between 300 and 700 units monthly would be raised by Rs2.15 per unit, from a previous rate of variable charges per kWh of Rs15.45 to Rs17.60 per kWh unit.
Meanwhile, consumers using monthly 300 units or less would not be affected as the tariff would remain unchanged for them.
