Monitoring Desk

MUMBAI: Now that Ranveer Singh has started hardcore practice sessions for his next – the Kapil Dev biopic, ’83, there’s a lot of excitement to see him in this unique avatar.

After delivering the biggest hit of his career and a blockbuster in all ways, Simmba, Ranveer seems to be ready to take the game a notch higher with his next. Helmed by Kabir Khan, the film will feature Ranveer playing the cricket legend. The shoot for the same may begin soon. Talking about the same, Kabir Khan said, “The major four-month schedule in London is May-June-July-August and some shooting will be done in India.”

The filmmaker also opened up about Ranveer being trained for his role in the film. He said, “We have started training for the film and we are working really hard for it. I feel sleepy all day because I have to get every day at 6 in the morning for it. But I am enjoying it a lot.  Expert cricketers are coming, Kapil Dev sir, Madan Lal sir, Yashpal sir….Other ’83 cricketers will also come. It’s loads of fun, it’s like a boot camp, we train for three hours: physical and skills training and establishing different styles.”

Recently, Ranveer took to his social media to share a picture of him from the training sessions. Talking about the music in this sports drama, Kabir Khan revealed, “Music is important in every Hindi film. It will be an integral part of ’83’ as well. It’s a sports film, so there will be motivational music. Pritam is composing the music of the film. We will not lip-sync songs because I don’t think the audience will accept Kapil Dev singing on the streets of London.”
