Kabul will initially have a-110,000-member army

KABUL (Tolo News): Acting Defense Minister of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan Mullah Muhammad Yaqoob Mujahid said that Afghanistan will initially have a-110,000-mbember army and will then increase if needed. Speaking in an interview with Afghanistan state TV-RTA, Mujahid said that they have trained 10,000 people for the army since the Taliban takeover and 80,000 more have enrolled for the army.
Mujahid also said that they have reactivated 4,000 choppers and planes of the ministry along with tens of vehicles. About the officers of the former Afghan government, the acting Defense Ministry said that up to 90 percent of the employees of the ministry are former officers and that those who are busy training abroad are contacted with and have been assured to come back to the country and do their jobs.
Mullah Muhammad Yaqoob Mujahid denied rumors about Afghanistan’s military equipment being transported to Pakistan and said that they are strictly managing the country’s borders and will allow no one to take the equipment out of Afghanistan. He blamed the neighboring Iran and Turkmenistan over recent clashes in shared borders and said that the Afghan border guards are directed to be cautious and behave mildly with all neighboring countries’ forces.
Regarding Pakistan’s barbed wire along Durand Line, Mujahid said that they have allowed no one to erect fences but await the final decision about the fences from the leadership of the IEA. Likewise other Taliban officials, Mujahid also underrated ISIS-K and said that the terror group is not a threat to Afghanistan. “Rumors about potential resistance against the Taliban in upcoming summer are ungrounded and baseless. None will cause problem to deteriorate Afghanistan’s current security situation.” Said Mujahid. He assured neighboring countries not to be threatened from Afghanistan’s soil and also denied arbitrary detention and beating of former security officials.
