Kalank earns Rs 21.6 crores on first day at box-office

MUMBAI: Varun Dhawan and Alia Bhatt’s fourth outing at the box-office has created a new record. The golden pair of this generation has taken the box-office by a storm with their latest venture Kalank.

The magnum opus has become the highest opener of 2019 by raking in Rs 21.6 crore net on its first day at the box-office. Produced by Karan Johar, Sajid Nadiadwala and Fox Star Studios, Kalank is a period drama with a stellar star cast as Varun Dhawan, Alia Bhatt, Madhuri Dixit, Sanjay Dutt, Sonakshi Sinha and Aditya Roy Kapur have come together to weave magic in the film.

Directed by Abhishek Varman, Kalank has even surpassed previous best day one numbers of 2019, where Akshay Kumar’s Kesari earned Rs 21.06 crore, Ranveer Singh’s Gully Boy collected Rs 19.40 crore and Ajay Devgn’s Total Dhamaal made Rs 16.50 crore. The film’s collections are expected to grow during the extended weekend with the holiday of Good Friday. The film has got mixed reviews from the critics but its winning hearts of the audience for sure.
