MUMBAI: The makers of Kangana Ranaut’s Manikarnika released the first poster of the film. In the poster, Kangana looks fierce as she goes into battle with a blood-drenched sword and carrying a little child on her back.
The film celebrates the courage, strength and passion of Rani Laxmibai as she led India’s fight for freedom ages ago. Along with Kangana Ranaut as Rani Laxmi Bai, the film also stars Jisshu as Gangadhar Rao, Atul Kulkarni as Tatya Tope, Sonu Sood as Sadashiv, Suresh Oberoi as Peshwa Bajirao II, Vaibhav Tatwawaadi as Puran Singh and debutante Ankita Lokhande as Jhalkaribai.
The hype for the film was already massive ever since pictures of Kangana as Manikarnika were leaked from the sets. The film is slated to release on Republic Day, 2019 along with Hrithik Roshan’s Super 30, which is based on Patna-based mathematician Anand Kumar.
In an interview with a leading daily, Kangana spoke about how honoured she was for the opportunity portray the life Rani Laxmibai on screen. She said, “It’s an iconic role. I trained a lot in sword fights and horse riding. In fact after riding the horse for two days straight I got a fever.
