KCD new block inaugurated

PESHAWAR: MTI – Policy Board Chairman Dr. Zia-ul-Islam and Chairman BOG KTH-KMC-KCD Prof. Dr. Nadeem Khawar inaugurated the newly constructed building on 10th October 2023 at Khyber College of Dentistry.
The event saw the participation of key figures, including Dean KMC Prof. Dr. Mahmud Aurangzeb, Dean KCD Prof. Dr. Syed Nasir Shah, Hospital Director KTH, Dr. Muhammad Zafar Afridi, Medical Director Prof. Dr. Mohammad Ayaz Khan and all Heads of Dentistry Departments.
Dean KCD Prof. Dr. Syed Nasir Shah gave a comprehensive briefing and said this new building will double the patient catering capacity. This building has 7 stories including a basement. The basement contains a daycare center, IT, Library, Masjid, College Store, two lecture theaters, offices, and dental laboratories. On the ground floor, there is the Department of Prosthodontics. Three Clinical departments are situated on the 1st and 2nd floors with 90 dental chairs. The basic Sciences block is on the 3rd, 4th, and 5th floor and has four departments.
On the top, there is a multi-purpose hall having the facility of a Skill lab, continuing dental education, a center for practical examination, and a separate purpose-built examination and conference hall.
Dr. Zia-ul-Islam commented that as a proud Alumni of KMC back in 1962 at that time only 2 dental rooms were established with 14 students and KCD got college status in 1992 since then they are moving towards development with state-of-art-facilities.
Further, he added that oral health impacts our whole body and he coated some interesting facts about BDS as compared to MBBS from a recent article which concluded that BDS degree duration and fees are low, easy admission policy with more job opportunities provides a comfortable lifestyle.
Chairman Policy Board also said that MTI structures for the hospital are improving on a continuous basis and we are in a negotiation phase with the government for our board member’s completion.
Prof. Dr. Nadeem Khawar appreciated KCD administration and was delighted about the establishment of Pead’s Dentistry as a separate department. Moreover, he added that we are conscious about the people’s health for that purpose we are continuously investing for the betterment of its community and now it’s another positive step towards quality Healthcare services.
After the briefing and speeches ribbon cutting ceremony took place followed by a floor-wise visit.
