(Web Desk): A film based on the life of renowned Indian barrister C Sankaran Nair has been officially titled Kesari Chapter 2 – The Untold Story of Jallianwala Bagh and is set for a new release date.
Starring Akshay Kumar, R. Madhavan, and Ananya Panday, the film will now hit theatres on April 18, 2025, coinciding with Good Friday.
Initially scheduled for release on March 14, 2025, the historical drama is produced by Dharma Productions, Leo Media Collective, and Cape of Good Films. Directed by Karan Singh Tyagi, the film delves into Sankaran Nair’s relentless battle against the British Raj to expose the truth behind the Jallianwala Bagh massacre.
Trade analyst Taran Adarsh confirmed the updates on Instagram, sharing, “AKSHAY KUMAR – R MADHAVAN – ANANYA PANDAY: ‘KESARI CHAPTER 2’ IS THE TITLE… NEW RELEASE DATE LOCKED…”
Inspired by the book The Case That Shook the Empire by Raghu Palat and Pushpa Palat, the film will chronicle how Sankaran Nair’s fight for justice played a crucial role in India’s freedom struggle. The project was first announced by Karan Johar in 2021, who described it as “the untold story of a historic man.”
Sankaran Nair, a former President of the Indian National Congress and a member of the Viceroy’s Executive Council, is remembered for his courageous legal battle against British atrocities. The film aims to bring his extraordinary story to the big screen, highlighting his impact on India’s fight for independence.
With a compelling narrative and a stellar cast, Kesari Chapter 2 is set to be one of the most awaited releases of 2025.
