Monitoring Desk

JALALABAD: A key member of a terrorist group famous as long-haired Saddam has been arrested during an operation of the Afghan forces in Nangarhar province of Afghanistan. The provincial government media office in a statement said the suspect was arrested by the operatives of the Afghan intelligence, National Directorate of Security, from Nazian district.

The statement further added that Saddam also famous as Khalid was actively involved in the terrorist related activities in the bordering regions of Nangarhar province.

Saddam has confessed to his crimes and his involvement in major terrorist related activities including coordinated attacks on check posts, schools, hospitals, and other public welfare sites. The anti-government armed militant groups including the Taliban and ISIS terrorists have not commented regarding the report so far.

Nangarhar is among the relatively calm provinces in the East of the country but the anti-government armed militants including the Taliban and ISIS insurgents have been attempting during the recent years to expand their foothold in some remote districts of the province. However, the Afghan forces are regularly conducting operations together with the US forces who are mainly carrying out airstrikes to root out the terrorists from this province.
