Khalistan case and India’s secularism

Recently, the Canadian government has warned an important Sikh leader that the Indian government may intend to focus on him due to his involvement in Khalistan activism. According to Gurmeet Singh Toor, a close friend of the slain Sikh leader Hardeep Singh Nijjar, the Canadian intelligence told him in writing that the Indian government was after his life and he should stop his activities and observe precaution.

The Khalistan Freedom Movement and its subsidiary organization Sikh for Justice (SFJ) have now become a draconic dream for the Modi-led BJP regime, that earlier chased Sikh freedom seekers around the globe through Indian Diplomatic missions abroad and its networks of lobbying firms, undercover agents, hired mercenaries and hardcore Hindu nationalists organizations in most parts of the world. The Sikh freedom seekers launched the most impressive worldwide campaign of Khalistan Referendum, under which millions of Sikhs living in India’s held Punjab and Sikh expatriates in various nations across the world poll their votes for the cause of an independent Sikh state comprising India’s held Punjab, Haryana and Himachal pradesh. The latest round of poll under Khalistan Referendum was organized in Canada on 29th October during which more than 200000 Sikh used their right to vote for Khalistan freedom.

Historically, contrary to expectations, New Delhi continued attempts at coercion, intimidation, and bullying of Sikh community at home and abroad proved futile, as the Sikh nation consistently strived and the Sikh freedom movement did not diminish over the past years, instead, it has gained a significant increase in strength and momentum. The recent killing of Sikh leader in Canada has brought the Khalistan issue to the global level, causing significant diplomatic, political and economic challenges for the Indian government. In fact, New Delhi policy of suppression and coercion against minorities has badly failed in Indian held Punjab,Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK), Mani pur, Assam and multiple other states where separatist campaigns and freedom movements are championing and government’s atrocities are on the rise. It is high time that New Delhi revisit its hegemonic policies and accept genuine demands of its minorities otherwise the fake scheme of secularism had already been exposed to the world.
