Khattak orders early finalization of dumping site

F.P. Report

PESHAWAR: Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Pervez Khattak asked for the finalization of dumping site among the already four sites in Peshawar for the waste management, disposal and a treatment plant for producing electricity out of the dumped solid waste. He cautioned for enhanced level of preparedness for effectively controlling the dengue virus in different districts of the province well before its outburst. He wanted a clean, hygienic environment in Peshawar directing the Deputy Commissioner Peshawar to immediately construct the drain system in Gulbahar and construct other broken drain manholes in city. The opponents would continue to propagate against the government but we would never respond them because they have their own political agenda and we have an agenda for change and public welfare, he added.

He was presiding over a high level meeting at Chief Minister House Peshawar today. Provincial Ministers Shah Farman Khan, Ishtiaq Urmarh, District Nazim Peshawar Arbab Asim, MNA Arbab Amir, all MPAs of Peshawar, Secretaries of Finance, Local Govt:, Chairman BoD WSSP, Commissioner and Deputy Commissioner Peshawar, CEO WSSP and other concerned high ups attended. The participants were briefed about the identification of different sites for the dumping ground. The meeting was further informed about the danger of dengue in the coming summer and the level of preparedness by the concerned departments. It was informed that a meeting has already been conducted, task assigned to different quarters and a complete plan worked out in this regard. The meeting was further informed about the drain and sanitation system in the city and the work so far done, was elaborated in the meeting.

Addressing the gathering, the Chief Minister directed to sensitize the WSSP for the task allocated to them adding that the opposition of the government had already launched a vilification campaign propagating against the tenacious wish for the public welfare. When the project entered the implementation stage for the benefit of the people, unfortunately a filthy propaganda is launched by the failed political forces maligning the government, casting aspersions in their larger desire to create distrust among the people against the government. His government and its sincerity to the cause of public welfare through a changed approach were above board. The people kept on showing their level of satisfaction never seen before. But agonizing it is, when the opposition relegated to the irrelevant niche in the political arena, try to bamboozle the people again. Their agenda is clear to regain the already lost political turf. But will they succeed?, is a question even they could not find a yes answer by themselves.

Pervez Khattak said that he will never make any rigmarole, he has no cognitive dissonance, he is a practical person with the background of total congruity. He is consistent in his words and actions and anything against it is not acceptable when it comes to the fulfillment of public commitment, he added.

Chief Minister formed a committee to finalize the selection of one site out of the total six identified sites for the dumping ground for the waste management to be converted to a treatment plant and the site must be for a longer period of time.  The uplift of Peshawar cannot be compromised adding that the local MPAs would fully cooperate with the executing agencies for all the projects in their respective constituencies. He directed to immediately construct the main drain system in Gulbahar and depute an official to monitor the construction work on daily basis and submit a report. He further directed for the quality construction.

Pervez Khattak directed the MPAs and the administration of Peshawar to launch an awareness campaign including at inter-personal-level against the dengue virus. We should not be afraid of challenges. It is a collective cause and we have to solve it collectively. The dengue response unit should be sensitized and we have to work practically adding that our interest, combined efforts and the required level of commitment would lead us to overcome all our challenges including the dengue one.
