Khyber super league cricket tournament opens in Landi Kotal

LANDI KOTAL: Khyber super league cricket tournament was inaugurated here at Konj sports ground, Landi Kotal last day.

The activity was organized under the banner of Konj sports committee and member provincial assembly Shafiq Sher Afridi was the chief guest on the occasion. Large number of local cricketers and sports lover witnessed the opening ceremony of the tournament.

According to the organizers,Bilal Afridi and Salahuddin Afridi seven teams comprising one each team from every branch of Zakha Khel tribe would participate in the second edition of Super League competitions and will continued for two weeks.

Speaking on the occasion the chief guest said that best cricket talent was available in local youth community however they needed to be patronized properly. He added that Pakistani team bowler; Shaheen Shah Afridi was the best example who remained player of the local club and by his ability qualified for the national team.

He urged authority concerned to set up sports activity in the area to persuade and indulge the youths in positive doings.

 The organizers said that on self financing the tournament was arranged with the purpose to divert attention of the tribal youths from narcotics products to sports activities and asked the sports directorate to support them in setting up games combats in the area. 

Later on first cricket match of the tournament was played between Afridi eleven and Bom Bom Azam club in which the former defeated the later one by 21 runs.
