F.P. Report

ISLAMABAD: Minister for National Health Services Regulations and Coordination, Amir Mehmood Kiani Thursday said the government was committed to ensuring implementation of international health regulations at all airports to protect people from transmission of diseases.

He said this during his visit to Islamabad International Airport where he reviewed arrangements being provided to passengers by Central Health Establishment (CHE) of the ministry.

He said passengers of all international flights were being screened for endemic diseases. A website of CHE would be launched soon for the ease of international travelers, he added.

He said special measures were also being adopted to improve infrastructure at health care centres across the country, besides, ensuring availability of medicines at all hospitals.

Kiani said Prime Minister Imran Khan had signed a memorandum of understanding during his visit to China to prevent cross-border disease transmission, after which thermal scanners had been made operational at airports particularly at Islamabad, Peshawar, Lahore and Karachi. They were installed at all entry points.

Polio vaccinations were being provided to those traveling abroad in emergency and preventive measures were being taken for preventing infections through passengers.

Moreover, he said vaccination process for pilgrims (hujjaj) was also going on for prevention of diseases.

According to the vision of prime minister, his ministry was introducing reforms in health sector and providing all possible assistance in this regard.
