Kidnapped Indian engineer returns home from Afghanistan

KABUL (Khaama Press): The Ministry of External Affairs of India has confirmed that one of the kidnapped Indian engineers has been released and has returned home from Afghanistan.

According to a statement released by the Ministry of External Affairs of India, efforts are underway for the release of remaining kidnapped engineers.

“One of the seven Indian nationals, who was kidnapped in Baghlan province of Afghanistan in May 2018, has safely returned to India,” the statement said.

“We are grateful to the Government of Afghanistan for their support in securing the release and repatriation of the Indian national,” it added.

The engineers were kidnapped by anti-government armed militants from Chashma-e-Sher area of Baghlan province on 6th of May last year as they were working on a substation construction project.
