KP CM directs transparency in govt affairs

PESHAWAR: A meeting of Science, Technology and Information Technology Department was held here the other day with Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Ali Amin Khan Gandapur in the chair. The Chief Minister was given detailed briefing about the initiatives and measures being taken under the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Information Technology Board to promote information and communication technology in the province and future plans of action in this regard.

Special Assistant to Chief Minister on Information Technology Khalid Latif, Principal Secretary to Chief Minister Amjad Ali Khan, Secretary Science and Information Technology Muhammad Ali Shah and other relevant officials of Information Technology Board attended the meeting. The Chief Minister was told that the Information Technology Board was working on various initiatives for the digitalization of government departments, provision of online civic facilities, promotion of digital literacy, provision of digital skills to youth and promotion of digital economy, and a number of other ICT related interventions which are yielding substantial results.

These projects and initiatives include Digital Governance, Public Service Delivery, Citizen Facilitation Centers, Digital Workspace, Digital Stamping, Integrated Farmer Registry, Supply Chain Management System, Visitor Management System, Digital Assessment Platform, Online Admission system, e-payment System, Online Arms License, Digital Entrepreneurship, Talent Management Platform, Digital Skills Development Program and others.

Emphasizing the importance of information and communication technology in all spheres of life in the present era, the Chief Minister said that to ensure transparency in government affairs and enhance efficiency of government department, digitalization of the government day to day business is the need of the hour.

Similarly, interventions are highly required to move towards a digital economy, impart digital skills to the youth and promoting digital entrepreneurship and online provision of online civic services to the citizens for which steps need to be take under a well planned strategy, he remarked and added that the present provincial government will move forward under its Digital Khyber Pakhtunkhwa vision and will ensure effective use of modern information and communication technology in this regard.

Appreciating the initiatives being taken under Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Information Technology Board, the Chief Minister directed the concerned authorities to launch awareness campaign about these initiatives specially those related to online delivery of public services, digital skills and digital entrepreneurship for the awareness of the public further directing them to make effective use of social media platforms for the purpose. and for this purpose so that maximum people could benignity these initiatives.
