PESHAWAR: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Elementary and Secondary Education Department (KP E&SE) is determined to provide the children of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa safe and enabling learning environment by ensuring the quality of construction in schools.
In this connection, an agreement has been signed between the KP E&SE and an engineering firm for the provision of engineering support and monitoring of Parent Teacher Councils (PTCs) in the implementation of Conditional Grant Program in all districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The engineering firm will mobilize engineers in each district who will provide assistance to PTCs in ensuring quality construction.
This technical assistance will enhance the managerial and technical capacities of the Parent Teacher Council. These critical stages include, the orientation of every PTC on construction guidelines and timeline setting, visit at the time of layout, foundation and material inspection, at the time of plinth-beam level and material inspection, visit at the time of lintel-beam level, at roof level and at the completion level to make sure that the construction is up to the mark.
In order to empower the local communities, a series of orientation sessions will be conducted for PTCs on the quality of construction by using construction guidelines that have been uploaded on the E&SE website. PTCs will also be trained on procurement and use of quality construction material in accordance with the approved designs and specifications.
This will further ensure that the facility is constructed in accordance with engineering standards and as per approved designs.
