KP Govt provided sufficient resources to hospitals: CM

PESHAWAR: Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Mahmood Khan has said that Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa “recognizes the need for eradicating Gender Based violence and to achieve this target, the Department of Social Welfare in collaboration with UN Women is determined to provide protection and empowerment to the women in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa”.

Chief Minister said that the Department of Social Welfare and UN Women have an agreement to undertake capacity assessment for upgradation of Dar-ul-Amaans in order to enhance survivors access to multi sectoral quality services in two pilot districts in the province. His government would also establish violence against women center on analogy of Multan violence against women center, Punjab in one of the Dar-ul-Amans so as to provide legal aid, medical, rehabilitation and counseling facilities to the victims of domestic violence.

This would be a twenty four hour a week facility to streamline investigation-prosecution case flow process by bringing all disconnected justice delivery services under one roof, he added.

He was addressing the signing ceremony between social welfare department and United Nation Women during his visit to Women Crisis Center Hayatabad Peshawar. Provincial government Spokesman Ajmal Khan Wazir, District Nazim Peshawar Arbab Asim and others attended. It has also been decided to establish a Technical Training Centre at one of the Dar-ul-Amaans in collaboration with Khyber Pakhtunkhwa TEVTA in order to rehabilitate the victims, he added.

Mahmood Khan said the provincial cabinet had already approved a women ombudsman for the women protection at work places and monitoring the whole mechanism to provide help of all kind to the women for protecting them against domestic violence and violence against them at workplaces.

Chief Minister said that UN women would arrange workshop campaigns for propagation of protection against harassment of women at the workplace Act 2018. They will also hold trainings of the committee members constituted under this Act of different public & private sector offices.

With regard to Women Empowerment Policy 2017, UN women has ensured technical support for the implementation & monitoring of the policy. They will help in devicing mechanisms and strategies for the protection & economic empowerment of women. U N women will help Social Welfare Department in conducting workshops and orientations and information collection from different department which he added a great step in the women empowerment in the province.

Mahmood Khan expected that women empowerment policy would create enabling environment for women to take decisions for their own betterment. The woman empowerment policy document formulation and its implementation is a team work involving all key stakeholders including UN women who are committed to ensure its effective implementation. With the consistency in efforts and focus, we will be able to achieve our goal of women empowerment in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, he added.

Later the Chief Minister had a round of different sections of the women crisis center Hayatabad Peshawar and asked the female in the center of their problems, the aid and help provided by the government within the center.

Moreover Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Mahmood Khan paid surprise visit to Hayatabad Medical Complex Peshawar today. He inspected different departments of complex and healthcare facilities provided to patients in the complex.

The Chief Minister expressed his anguish over the absence of Doctors and other staff and directed to immediately terminate them in order to streamline the system. “He would not compromise on the availability of staff and facilities in public run hospitals”, he warned.

Spokesman of Provincial government Ajmal Khan Wazir, District Nazim Arbab Asim and other concerned were also accompanied by Chief Minister during his visit to Hayatabad Medical Complex Peshawar.

The Chief Minister on this occasion, inspected medical wards, emergency wards, MRI and other sections of the hospital. He also met with people and listen to their problems. He particularly examined the mechanism of provision of medicines to the patients. He directed the hospital administration to facilitate the poor people and to ensure the availability of doctors and allied staff for round the clock.

The Chief Minister made it clear that he was paying surprise visits to different hospitals randomly in order to ensure efficient healthcare services in the hospitals. There should be all time operational system of services delivery to patients. Deficiencies should be removed and efficient treatment should be ensured, he directed.

The Chief Minister said that his government has provided sufficient resources to public run hospitals. These resources should be utilized efficiently and the whole system of services should be streamlined in order to facilitate the poor people at maximum level.

The Chief Minister on this occasion was also briefed about the modern equipments installed in the hospitals and internal information system of hospital.

He lauded these practices; however, he said that availability of staff must be ensured in order to get benefit of these facilities.
