KP police to introduce ‘Tourism Police Force’

TIMERGARA:  Inspector General of Police (IGP) Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Dr Muhammad Naeem Khan has said the visit of thousands of tourists to scenic spots was an obvious proof that people of Malakand division were loving peace, prosperity and development. He said that lasting peace prevailed in all districts of Malakand division for which forces from a constable to a General had rendered matchless sacrifices.

The IGP stated this while addressing a gathering of lawmakers from Lower Dir, Upper Dir and Bajaur districts, LG representatives, area elders and police officers at the Timergara police line here on Sunday. The regional police officer Malakand Muhammad Saeed Wazir, DPO Lower Dir Arif Shahbaz Wazir, DPO Bajaur Peer Shahab Ali Shah, DPO Upper Dir Mian Naseeb Jan and Lower Dir district nazim Muhammad Rasool Khan were also present on the occasion.

The IGP also visited the Pak Afghan border area the Maskini Darra and inaugurated a newly built police post there. Addressing the gathering he said that about one million tourists from all parts of the country this year visited Swat, Dir and Chitral during Eid days. He said the KP police had planned to form ‘Tourism Police Force’ in order to boost tourism in the region. The IGP said that public was the real asset of the state and the nation and without public support police could do nothing. He asked police officers to improve their attitude with public through community policing. “Give due respect to public if you see me happy,” he said. The IGP said that police were being inducted in the newly merged districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

About the special police officials the IGP said that a summary for their regularization had been moved to the office of chief minister and soon they would listen to good news.

Earlier MNA Bashir Khan, MNA Syed Mehboob Shah, former MNA Akhunzada Chattan,  Shahab ud Din Khan, MNA Gul Zafar Baghi and district nazim Muhammad Rasool Khan also spoke on the occasion. Dir traditional cap, shields, Chitrali shawl and souvenirs were presented to the IGP by local lawmakers and area elders on the occasion.
