KP’s Shangla shivers as heavy snowfall blankets valley

SHANGLA: Heavy rains continued to lash the plains of Shangla Valley while heavy snowfall also covered the upper hilly areas intensifying the cold, on Tuesday. 

Pakistan Meteorological Office said that a strong westerly wave is affecting the upper and central parts of the country and may persist in the upper parts till Wednesday (morning).

On Tuesday more rain wind-thunderstorms (snow over high mountains in upper parts) were recorded in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Kashmir, Gilgit Baltistan, upper Punjab and Islamabad. 

Hailstorms were recorded at a few places, while heavy falls were also observed in upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Punjab, Gilgit Baltistan and Kashmir during the period.

In Lahore, rain wind-thunderstorm lashed the city in the dead of the night. Tuesday’s recorded lowest minimum temperatures: Kalam -03 and Malam Jabba -02. In the past 24 Hour (Monday) rain-thunderstorms occurred in Islamabad, Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, North/Central Balochistan, Kashmir, upper Sindh and Gilgit-Baltistan. While snowfall occurred in Kalam, Malamjabba and Astore. Rainfall (mm) recorded in past 24 hours:
